The Newark News + Story Collaborative is committed to elevating community-sourced stories to fill information gaps in local and national media, and to building a lasting cadre of trained community journalists, media makers, and creators in Newark.

Community Media Fellowship
Hands-on training in multimedia storytelling for Newark residents, including a youth track for ages 14 to 24. Home of the Youth Reporter Program and the LISC Neighbors Helping Neighborhoods spotlight.

Community-led oral history that captures and preserves Newark stories in residents' own voices. Includes the Brick City Voices Project and Community Interview Day.
Learn more 03Participatory Defense Hub
Launched in 2025 with PUSHH (Peers Understanding Strategies for Help and Healing) in the West Ward. Trains youth in storytelling, social biographies, and know-your-rights.
